Alan McGee’s new Liverpool club night to launch tomorrow

Creation records founder Alan McGee has spoken before about his belief in the Liverpool music scene, in July stating “there is more talent in Huyton than Hoxton” and that “London is musically dead”. On the label’s website, McGee went on to say “Liverpool is the most alive place for music in the UK so that’s why the 359 Club is happening there. In Shoreditch they care about their trousers and in Liverpool they care about their songs. Everything Shoreditch is – 359 isn’t.”

The night, named 359 after his record label, which will be at District in Liverpool tomorrow night (6 September), will feature DJ sets from McGee, Barcelona born Baby G and John Reed. It will have performances from 359’s John Lennon McCullagh who is due to support The Strypes and Babyshambles in the next few months, and scouser Chris Grant. We will also see sets from The Huyton Minstrel and Keziah.

McGee has also urged local and emerging talent to bring demos to the night and has promised he will listen.
