ALBUM: Guy Sebastian – ‘Conscious’

On November 3rd, Guy Sebastian dropped his new album Conscious, via Sony Music in Australia, however the album was only released in the UK today on December 1st.

Opening with flamboyant, jazz inspired track, ‘High On Me.’ Guy experiments with a pop bluster of playful sounds, incorporating mellow synths overlapped by energetic harmonies. Being his 10th studio album it is fair to say the artist has gone from strength to strength in a short period of time.

Arising from talent show Australian Idol, the musician has since achieved over 40 platinum certified releases followed by an incredible three million sales in the decade that followed. Sebastian talks more about tracks ‘Exclusive’ and  ‘Set In Stone’: “Quite a bit of the subject matter is about the challenges of being on the road, and the tug of war between wanting to do what I do so much, but almost denying the acknowledgment that it is a sacrifice.”

On October 20th Guy published his music video for his track Bloodstone, which also features on his new album Consciousness. The video has managed to gain a steady six thousand likes and over 200,000 views. The song is recorded in what appears to be an industrial, broken down warehouse. Guy experiments with soulful falsettos whilst overlapping a mist of soft melodies from the crowd demonstrated in the video.

The album features 12 atmospheric sizzling pop tracks, each with well rehearsed, emotive lyrics.

Conscious is available through iTunes, Apple Music and/or Spotify here
