British Sea Power reveal video for new single ‘Bad Bohemian’ – WATCH

British Sea Power have released a video for Bad Bohemian – the first track taken from their forthcoming sixth studio album Let The Dancers Inherit The Party (March 31st on Golden Chariot via Caroline International).

The brilliantly manic Bad Bohemian clip – conceived, directed and edited by band singer/guitarist Yan Wilkinson – features the song’s lyrics in Dadaist text, frenetic interpretive dancing, meme cats and dying bugs.

Of the video, Yan says: “I wanted the video to capture the feeling in between the real world and the virtual world; the way that it’s kind of fun but at the same time exhausting trying to keep up with the speed of everything. The way you can go from watching an entertaining Korean performer working with imaginary objects to live footage of war torn countries then sink into a world of cute animals before trying and digest global politics, all within a few clicks. It’s a confusing world I guess. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how the artist Kurt Schwitters used things like bus tickets in his collage. To me adding a video of a kitten equates with him putting an everyday object like a bus ticket in a work of art was back in his day – how an everyday thing is capable of expressing something deeper whilst still being an everyday thing. I think the song has more going on below the surface than is at first obvious. I wanted the video to reflect that.”
