You’d expect the headliner for the first day of a festival to kick things off big-style and to set the tone for the rest of the weekend; Chase & Status did exactly that with their hit-filled, bass-heavy set on Friday. It almost felt like the main stage wasn’t big enough for these guys, with the crowd completely packing out the main stage area.

The crowd lapped up every single moment, from the bass drops prominent in most C & S songs to the famous festival chant of “here we, here we, here we fucking go” by the hype man that was onstage with the band.

Lots of their songs contain a feature from a different artist and usually, when the featuring artist of the song isn’t there to perform the song, it detracts from it, but it seemed to be no problem for Chase & Status as projections of featuring artists such as Plan B, Misha B and more were played out on the big screen. However, a special guest in the form of Tempa T came onstage to perform ‘Hypest Hype’ and this was met with a raucous reaction from the crowd.

You can definitely see Chase & Status headlining a bigger festival like Reading & Leeds or Latitude soon if their performance here is anything to go by. Without a doubt, this set will be one of the highlights of the weekend.
