Having recently supported The Libertines at London’s Alexandra Palace, Liverpool’s Circa Waves approach tonight’s sold out show at London’s tunnel-shaped Heaven, in similar fashion to the riot-starting Libs themselves – as chaos prevails throughout the quartet’s set.

A throng of stage invaders jump to and from the crowd, before the venue’s security even have a chance to react and the breakneck speed of singles, ‘Young Chasers’ and  ‘Get Away’ trigger’s an abundance of sweaty, arm wielding teens into a cataclysmic yet glorious mess, that even the more cautious of fans don’t think twice about diving into.

The height to which frontman Kieran Shudall’s guitar is hoisted may well mimic that of Alex Turner’s, circa 2006, but tonight there’s no need to emulate any of their indie predecessors – this band are now very much riding their own wave.
