Art-pop quartet Clean Cut Kid have premiered ‘Jean’, the flip-side to their forthcoming single Runaway, and it’s pretty heartwarming stuff. Known for their feel-good indie-pop vibes and euphoric sound, Clean Cut Kid certainly haven’t disappointed with ‘Jean’.
Mike Halls says of the tracks inspiration: “Jean was my nan: a gigantic character with the sharpest wit[…] When she died a few years ago the whole family lost its North star[…] Even if nobody outside my family gets it, just the fact that someone somewhere might be singing her name long after she’s gone will be enough.”
Mike (and the rest of the band) have certainly done Jean justice: with their catchy earworm melodies and sugary sweetness, Jean’s name will definitely be sung long after she’s gone.
Clean Cut Kid are supporting Shura at Brixton in December, in addition to releasing a limited edition seven-inch version of ‘Runaway’ backed by ‘Jean’.
