Communion have announced that Rae Morris will be headlining the first of their series of free intimate shows to celebrate their 10th birthday.
The gig will take place at The Lexington in London on June 28, and will kick off the celebrations of Communion’s first 10 years. Tickets are free, and are available via a ballot system here. More big names playing little shows will be announced throughout the year.
Blackpool-born Rae Morris released her debut album Unguarded last year, whuch peaked at number 9 on the UK album charts. The Lexington was the first venue she performed at with Communion as her promoter, and has gone on to headline the 2000-capacity Shepherd’s Bush Empire alongside them.
Communion was born back in 2006 as a monthly live music night at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club, and has since become a record label and live promotions team.
Speaking about the anniversary, Communion founders, Ian Grimble, Kev Jones and Ben Lovett said” “Communion is 10 years old! It started as a monthly night run by musicians to provide a platform for new talent and to create a melting pot of industry, artists and fans – ten years on we’re still going strong.
“It’s changed a little, with a fully fledged record label, live promotions business, publishing company, radio show, and festival all operating on both sides of the pond but at its core it’s still the same thing – a group of dedicated and passionate people curating and developing music for artists and fans alike. Here’s to another 10 years.”
