The Cribs, The Amazons, Vant and Declan McKenna join the bill for Sound City 2017

The new acts join the lineup for the festivals tenth anniversary edition.

The Cribs take to Clarence Dock, Liverpool for a one-off performance of Men’s Needs, Woman’s Needs, Whatever – which is also turning ten this year – set to grace the audience with tracks like ‘Men’s Needs’, ‘Be Safe’ and ‘I’m A Realist’.

Also announced are The Amazons who, after bursting onto the music scene last year, have built up a reputation for their massive live shows. Sound City is no doubt set to be a career-defining set for The Amazons, and an “I was there” moment for music-lovers.

Indie-rockers Vant join the bill, with a debut album hot off the press, as well as singer-songwriter Declan McKenna; both some of the most in demand names in new music.

Keeping up with tradition of fostering new talent, Sound City has also announced its first wave of unsigned acts.  Glasgow’s Colonel Mustard and the Dijon Five return after a stint in Korea, while the Edge Hill label showcase flaunts such talent as Shrinking Minds, Oranj Son and Ali Horn.

The BIMM showcase welcomes Fur, Tomm Dunne, Ae Mak, Crimsons and Chay Snowden, and the now infamous Korean showcase will feature Ssing Ssing, Wasted Johnny’s, Diealright and Swiiimers.

China’s biggest record label and festival producers Modern Sky have recently expanded to the UK and are wasting no time in showing off their new signings: Catholic Action, PIXEY, Violet Youth and FUSS, along with some overseas action coming from Cotillon and Re-TROS.

Leading the arts and culture line-up is avant-rock titan John Cale. Following his one and only UK performance of The Velvet Underground and Nico on Friday night, John will appear in conversation on Saturday for a discussion that spans his entire career.

Also in conversation is Charlatans frontman and gourmet coffee expert Tim Burgess. In a career spanning almost 30 years at the cutting edge of the indie-rock scene Tim’s fascinating insight into the business is essential listening for anyone with even a passing interest in forging a path in music.

Celebrating its third year at Sound City, Tim is also bringing back his Tim Peaks Diner, world-famous for programming fantastic new acts and of course the finest coffee known to man.  On the menu this year is The Rhythm Method, Gulp featuring Super Furries’ Guto Price and youngster Tom Mouse Smith. Alongside them will be The G-O-D, Nev Cotteeand some very special guests to be revealed over the weekend.
