Discovery of the Week: Screaming Peaches

It seemed relevant to write about Screaming Peaches this week, as I discovered just over a week ago that they had very recently got a new drummer and changed their name from Movie. It was a cool name, but clearly not to be.

These four guys from London Town have been working their way up from the bottom for a few years now, and their revolution as Screaming Peaches marks a turning point. Brand new single ‘Sad Kid’, with hints and influences from Talking Heads, results in a sound similar to Theme Park, but with more of an edge. Screaming Peaches have ticked all the right boxes.

‘Sad Kid’ begins with a brilliantly funky bass line and guitar riff that explode into your eardrums, sending your body into a frenzy of fun and frantic dance moves. Frontman Theo sings his falsetto perfectly and with just the right hint of sass “S-A-D, K-I-D!” It’s an unbelievably groovy indie track that cant’ be ignored.

Screaming Peaches have been touring around the UK’s best and brightest festivals this summer. They are undoubtedly one to watch in the future of the music scene, and literally if you can catch one of their live shows. Check them out at London’s Sebright Arms on the 16 September.
