EP: SKiNNY MiLK – ‘SKiNNY MiLK’

Formed in January of this year, Brighton-based duo SKiNNY MiLK create music driven by bass and drums, and their songs remain embedded in the memory after a single listen. Their self-titled EP is full of devious bass lines and delicious distortion, and with an array of FX pedals and some knockout drumming; SKiNNY MiLK create cathartic tunes that effortlessly reach the volume of much larger guitar bands.

Opener ‘Come on’ is a call to arms for those on their way “outta space” and is a belting introduction to the garage-psych duo’s sound. ‘Here It Comes’ follows with equal amounts of attitude and anticipation, and will satisfy shoe gazers as well as flicking the musical switch for fans of grunge.

Much like their predecessors Royal Blood, it’s the psych element to SKiNNY MiLK’s sound which means they avoid being overshadowed by other garage bands, and third track ‘Run’ is another sharply executed example of this. It will have you pacing pavements at full speed, and it closes this short but incredibly sweet first offering from a promising and exciting new band.

Do yourself a favour guys; sack off the full fat and get some SKiNNY MiLK down ya ASAP.
