EXCLUSIVE: Goldie Lookin Chain share new track ‘I Got A Van’

Taken from their twentieth album, Fear Of A Welsh Planet, national treasures Goldie Lookin Chain are sharing the hilariously brilliant ‘I Got A Van,’ exclusively on Gigslutz.

Claiming to have put 50%, maybe 53% into making it one of the best hip hop tracks ever heard, Goldie Lookin Chain seem to achieve it effortlessly, with lines like “It smells a bit like fish from the previous owner / He died in a smash he was an organ donor / Just like him I’m gonna give you my heart / as soon as I can get this van to start.” It’s pure magic.

Taking inspiration from the practicality of vans, Rhys says: “A van has got wheels, seats and an entire room in the back that could be used for sexy time or simply to watch Netflix on your phone. Also, The A Team had a van that was well lush and we grew up wanting to basically be The A Team of rap. Mission accomplished, I think you’ll find.” And the mission has been accomplished, with added disco guitars and infectious choruses.

The single is one of the 16 soon-to-be classics that make up Fear Of A Welsh Planet, and sets a precedent for exciting zeitgeist-y tunes.
