EXCLUSIVE: Stream Las Cobras’ debut album ‘Temporal’

If you’re looking for a sultry dose of South American psych-rock this Thursday, look no further than boyfriend/girlfriend duo Las Cobras. The pair are releasing their debut album Temporal on May 19th via Fuzz Club Records, but you can get your first listen today with our exclusive soundcloud stream.

Psychedelia has always been deeply ingrained in South America’s culture and history, harking all the way back to the 1960s with the politically charged Tropicalia movement. Things are no different now; it’s host to a wealth of great bands such as Follakzoid, Boogarins and The Holydrug Couple, and now Uraguay’s Los Cobras are joining that list.Comprised of Sofía Aguerre and Leandro Rebellato, the band formed in early 2016, but they’ve quickly developed an unusual but focused style. Their groove-ridden, mystical psychedelia is a mesmerising journey through warped synths, tropic percussion, smoky vocals, and chiming guitars.

Their album Temporal is influenced as much by psych/rock’n’roll as it is by afro-beat and tropicalia. The opening self-titled track is the perfect insight into their all-encompassing sound. The darkest and heaviest cuts from the album, such as second single ‘So Much Love’, see the band delve into dark psychotropic waters. Where some tracks see their psych-rock explored through the lens of traditional Latin American sounds, the kaleidoscopic elements are often dropped in favour of slants driven by motorik drum machine percussion, distorted guitars, and echoic harmonies from both Sofia and Leandro.

Listen to Temporal below, and if you like what you hear, you can order your physical copy now.
