THIS FEELING ALIVE INTERVIEW: BLACKWATERS

Born off the back off This Feeling club nights and festival stages, This Feeling – Alive tour, sees headliners Bang Bang Romeo, The Shimmer Band and Blackwaters head out around the UK, supported by more of the best new bands around, to celebrate indie music in 2017 and the power of new bands.

As the tour continues, we’re catching up with the headliners. First up, BlackWaters…

Describe the band in 3 words

Yeah, pretty decent.

And what can people expect from your live shows?

Songs. There will definitely be songs played. I don’t know, something different happens every time. Jumping in the crowd, climbing shit, shouting. They are the usual.

Funniest gig/tour experience?

This one time, at band camp Max dropped a joint in the toilet and placed it in Ollie’s hand.

Who would be on your ideal festival lineup (to play alongside)?

S club 7, Tesseract., Justin Timberlake, Marylin Manson, Boy George could do a surprise set or something like that.

What song do you wish you’d written?

Happy Birthday. Royalties mate.

Who should we be listening to at the moment?

Yonaka, HMLTD and Public Service Broadcasting. All extremely original and amazing live.

Why are promoters/nights like This Feeling so important?

There’s two stages to it. The first is helping bands get on their feet in terms of performing live and developing their songs. That’s what local promoters and pub venues are for. Then once that’s all in place and the band have an overall coherency and style then promoters like ThisFeeling help develop them in terms of giving them bigger shows and bigger opportunities. It’s all about giving bands a chance and giving them the platform to develop.

This Feeling Alive tour continues until 15 October.
