THIS FEELING ALIVE INTERVIEW: SONS

Born off the back off This Feeling club nights and festival stages, This Feeling – Alive tour, sees headliners Bang Bang Romeo, The Shimmer Band and Blackwaters head out around the UK, supported by more of the best new bands around, to celebrate indie music in 2017 and the power of new bands.

Ahead of the tour, we’re catching up with all the bands involved to find out what makes them tick. We find out more about SONS before the play the tour finale in Brighton…

Describe the band in 3 words

Powerful, memorable, brothers

And what can people expect from your live shows?

Two brothers making more melodic noise than you would have expected a two piece to be capable of making. Think Mike Tyson, if he floated like a butterfly and stung like a hornet…ha ha

Funniest gig/tour experience?

John (our manager) drinking a whole free bottle of JD (our rider) at a This Feeling gig in Manchester supporting Avalanche Party. When we went on stage there was a full bottle and when we came off stage half an hour later it had all gone. He strongly denied it had anything to do with him but his eyes, speech and dance moves told a different story, he got his belly out a lot that night Ha ha.

Who would be on your ideal festival lineup (to play alongside)?

Queen, Nirvana, Pantera, Deftones, Korn, Clash, Carpenters, Stone Temple Pilots. Pretty divers line up really…

What song do you wish you’d written?

‘Lounge Act,’ Nirvana

Who should we be listening to at the moment?

100% Avalanche Party! Best live band we’ve seen in a very long time. Those Paves lads are pretty special too. Skin were amazing at Reading and so was SHEAFS.

Why are promoters/nights like This Feeling so important?

If it wasn’t for promoters like ‘This Feeling’ then new guitar bands wouldn’t have a chance to get themselves out there. I cannot stress enough the importance of being given the opportunity to go on a tour. We played Reading this year, this has been a dream of ours since childhood and we’ll be forever grateful. They do a hell of a lot for Indie/Alt rock bands in fact they go above and beyond!!

SONS play Pattersn, Brighton w/ Bang Bang Romeo, The Shimmer Band
and Blackwaters on 15 October. For tickets and info on other dates visit
