Halifax’s fast rising The Orielles have announced details of the release of I Only Bought It For The Bottle, their second track for Heavenly Recordings, and it’s pretty damn special.
Made up of sisters Sidonie B and Esmé Dee Hand Halford and their best friend Henry Carlyle Wade, still aged only 21, 18 & 17 respectively, I Only Bought It For The Bottle takes inspiration from the band’s joint love of film as Esmé explains: The track is loosely based upon Nicolas Winding Refn film The Neon Demon as it talks about the idea of how beauty has become a currency and that we no longer desire substance, yet seek things based on appearance and face value. The microcosm of this idea comes through the lyrics which explain a story of how the subject bought a bottle because it looked really nice and tasty but actually it tasted like shit.’
