This Feeling Track of the Day : The Scruff ‘White Flag’

The Scruff made a break through last year with ‘Her’, a heartfelt and anthemic song inspired by the passing of drummer Omar’s Mum which gained multiple Radio 1, Radio X and 6 Music plays. The next step, the next single, it’s always key and many bands fail to capitalise on early promo support and the buzz fizzles out. Fortunately, writing great songs and performing them as if their lives depend on it is what they do.

New single ‘White Flag’ reflects the day to day struggles of life in a relationship, the ongoing issues, the little fights and the need to sometimes press the reset button are all brought to the fore amongst a flurry of crunchy guitars, soaring vocals and even a little brass thrown in for good measure. There’s real momentum behind this Bedford 4-piece now and leads the band nicely into UK headline tour next month (dates below) and a busy summer of festival appearances. Ones to watch.
