FESTIVAL GUIDE: Bestival

Name: Bestival (‘The Future’)

Where: Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight

When: 8-11 September 2016

Headliners: The Cure, Major Lazer, Hot Chip, Fatboy Slim

Also Featuring: Craig David’s TS5, Wolf Alice, Big Narstie, The Human League, Katy B, Animal Collective…

A Brief History: One of Rob da Bank’s most popular ventures, Bestival is the result of ten years of music events and record releases from the Sunday Best empire. Along with his wife, Rob set out to create his vision of how the modern day festival should be – and as one of the most eclectic festival experiences ever – and a multi-award winning one –  the dream was definitely fulfilled.

How To Get There: There are carparks and caravan fields on site, open from 9am on the Thursday until 4pm on the Monday (though the campsite closes a little earlier). The Isle of Wight is a short ferry ride from Southampton, Portsmouth or Lymington, with shuttle buses and coaches available on the island. Bestival also offer a deal to travel with Big Green Coach. All information can be found on the Bestival website.

Gigslutz Top Tip: Get involved with the dressing up. You’ll feel left out if you don’t.

Memorable Moments: Last year, Bestival welcomed some pretty incredible acts to the main stage, and whether you’re a fan of The Jacksons or not, their Main Stage tribute to their late brother was certainly something special.

Did You Know? As well as the campsite, Bestival has 8 different areas. Be sure to explore all of them.

How To Get Tickets: Tickets are available through ticketline
