BACKGROUND:

Beginning back in the 1980s, Boardmasters has become the festival that marries music with surf. Taking place in two of Newquay most iconic beaches, Boardmasters has grown to become one of the UKs major festivals with a capacity of 30,000 in 2015. Having previous being headlined by acts such as Ed Sheeran, Snoop Dogg, The Vaccines and Dizzie Rascal, Boardmasters continues to grow.

HOW TO GET THERE:

Boardmasters is easy to reach via the M5 and A30. Big Green Coach take you directly to the festival from most England’s major cities such as Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, London and Reading. Boardmasters also offers a shuttle bus between the two beaches which is only a £5 return.

GIGSLUTZ TOP TIPS:

Make sure to keep at tenner to hand so you can pay your deposit for the silent disco at night, you can never be too tired for a disco, dance until the early hours.

If you’re into your surfing or sightseeing make sure to visit the events and after parties happening at Fristal beach at some point over the weekend.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS:

Last year’s hurricane Bertha treating the Boardmasters site less than kindly, leaving a trail of mass destruction and causing an entire stage to blow away into the sea. (RIP Mavericks Stage 2014-2014) Even though the whole Sunday of music was cancelled, the true party animals stayed and made it even better than the days of full music – proving that all you need to have a good time is the Boardmasters atmosphere and a silent disco!

MUST SEE THIS YEAR:

Faithless – Dance legends reunite for 20th anniversary

Yak – After tearing up clubs up and down the country, Yak will surely add the Mavericks stage to the list after this weekend

Fat White Family – With on-stage antics including the flinging of faeces and masturbating and filthy tunes to match you won’t wanna niss this one

Carl Barat & The Jackals – With an intense amount of hype surrounding his other band the Libertines, it will be interesting to see how Carl channels the excitement through tHe jackals

Clean Bandit – Well experienced with big crowds, the hits will surely go down a treat on the main stage
