A Brief History: Founded in 2006, The Great Escape is a major three day festival designed to showcase the talent of emerging artists from around the globe. It’s the ideal place to discover new music talent, with 450 bands playing in 30 different venues, all across the seaside town of Brighton.

How To Get There: Southeastern rail services to Brighton, or by car.

Gigslutz Top Tip: Time-wise, it’s safer to arrive earlier than later to see your favourite acts; small venue capacities and lengthy queues could affect the number of bands you manage to see over the course of the weekend. Also – sign up to The Great Escape text service for updates about venue changes, queues, and time alterations!

Memorable Moments: There’s a lot to choose from (click here for the official annual highlights), but last years memorable moments included surprise sets from The Maccabees and The Vaccines, Slaves’ incredible set at The Corn Exchange, and The Big Moon and RATBOY tearing up the NME stage at The Haunt.

What We Said Last Year: We picked 10 acts to watch out for, and reviewed the bands we managed to catch.

Did You Know? The Alternative Escape runs alongside the main festival, and is equally as impressive. Details about events and participating bands can be found here.
