A first date with: Tired Lion

In the midst of EP releases and festival dates (including Glastonbury and Latitude) Tired Lion found a bit of time to take us on a first date…

So, are you excited for our first date?

Yep of course, but as always slightly nervous.

Where do you take me?

Let’s grab some ice cream and sit somewhere nice and chat.

What do you prefer – sit down meal or some sort of activity?

I’d want to find a nice looking area and just chill and chat, learn things about each other.

And as for Dutch courage, what’s your drink of choice?

A beer is fine but I don’t really believe in the drinking before the date because I don’t wanna be someone I’m not. Can’t do the liquid courage thing…

We’re in the 21st Century, but who’s paying?

I can pay but I’m easy. You’ll have to grab something on the next date!

The date’s going well, at what point do you bring up the band? Or is the band the way to get the date?

Never bring up the band. I think I have used it once in the past and it was a terrible time. I find if someone goes on a date with me because I play in the band and they think I’m some sort of rockstar or some lame thing when I’m not…

Is music an important connection to have for you, or can you bond with someone who has no interest in it?

Doesn’t really matter at all to me, but of course if the person likes the music you like then it’s going to be a bonus.

When do I turn into a muse for songs?

Never… I’d rather journal about it than write a song about it.

What’s going to get me a second date?

Being yourself and being an interesting person. Talking about life and past experiences I love hearing about peoples lives.

In other news, you’re currently on your first EU/UK tour, how’s that going?

Yeah, really good! It’s very different to how people would imagine it, we sit in a car for 5 plus hours to get to a show then play and hang for maybe an hour or 2 then head to the accommodation, then we do it all again. There isn’t heaps of time for partying or seeing the sights.

Have you done many UK festivals before? Looking forward to the mud?

First time! Glastonbury was insane with the mud but what a great festival! We have a festival in Australia called Splendour In The Grass and that’s real muddy and when we played last year we didn’t take wellies like a bunch of idiots.

And, finally, what are your plans for the rest of 2016?

Write, Write, Write! We just want to put songs together for an album. Other than that just play some festivals and shows back in Australia. Would love to hit Europe again later in the year but we will see, maybe next year.
