Florence & The Machine Dedicate Song To Patti Smith

On Thursday night, the band performed at London’s O2 Arena, where they dedicated ‘Patricia’ to Patti Smith, unveiling that the song was written for her.

Welch’s family and friends also watched from the crowd and while the band announced the news, Smith was watching in the crowd. Florence Welch said:

“This song is basically all for you, except for one bit in the middle which is about toxic masculinity.”

At the show, Florence also gave a bare-footed performance ‘Grace’ for the first time on tour and half way through the show, she urged the crowd to: “turn to each other and embrace each other.”

See a clip of the performance below:

The band performed the following setlist on the night:

‘June’
‘Hunger’
‘Between Two Lungs’
‘Only If For A Night’

‘100 Years’
‘Ship To Wreck’
