Here’s your annual top 20 from Gigslutz FC. Better get this up now before you’re hammered and forget it existed.
Our nod to some favourite artists new, established and in the middle somewhere. Respect to The Skinner Brothers who’ve told it like it is all year; pure grafters. Andy Rourke’s band Blitz Vega’s new single ‘Strong Forever’ made the cut, featuring Johnny Marr on guitar, it brings together two members of The Smiths on record after all these years, enough in itself to warm the soul. The legendary Smiths bassist co-wrote the track with Gigslutz flag flyer Kav, imperious on vocals & guitar. Kae Tempest & Kojey Radical (who crept in on 2 different tracks) bust in the door fairly last minute and a personal favourite is the Fazerdaze cracker.
It’s a festive trifle all topped off with a pure piece of art from Sault which has made it’s way onto my funeral playlist. You’re all invited by the way, apart from John, oh and Wilton Sampaio, I hope your main present is socks you bumbaclot. Also snuck in very very last minute is some Animai magic via the Euphonique drum n bass remix of her new single No Enemy. It was too late to make the artwork but had to bolt it on the end cos Animai is a wonder. If you don’t know, now you know.
