Manchester legends Happy Mondays have had to pull out of Sunderland’s Split Festival just 24 hours after being announced on the line-up.
The news was broken by the Split Festival Twitter page @Split Festival this morning: “Unfortunately, due to circumstance beyond our control, The Happy Mondays are no longer able to perform at Split Festival.”
The Madchester icons Happy Mondays were announced yesterday alongside 37 other acts to perform with headliners Dizzee Rascals and Maximo Park at the festival in Sunderland’s Mowbray Park on August 9-10.
The other acts announced yesterday included Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), Smoove and Turrell, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Bleech, Hyde & Beast, The Lake Poets, The Twilight Sad, School of Language and Lisbon and Boy Jumps Ship.
Tickets are priced at £30 for the day or £50 for the weekend and can be purchased here
