I Would Go Out Tonight – GIGSLUTZ GIGS OF THE WEEK!

Have you the ensemble but struggling on the entertainer?  Stress less my friends!  I thought I’d do you lovely readers a wee service by picking a few bands worth braving Stormageddon for.  Should you dare venture into the night to fight your way through upturned wheely bins and flying garden gnome corpses, this could be the one for you…

Warpaint

Warpaint make sexy music, fact.  Not the kind of ‘Walrus of Love, parents are relighting their fire’ sexy.  I mean hypnotic instrumentals, otherworldly harmonies, poetically delicious lyrics.  Like a stage full Stevie Nicks’ in her element.  They only have three dates in the UK before off on the continental leg of the tour, so run – or should I say drift on the wind – with haste to catch them!

Warpaint play Brixton Wednesday 30th October

Suede

The elder statesmen of Britpop are of out and about (I’m currently wallowing in self pity at my inability to attend, just don’t talk to me about it, ever, I’ll cry).  Latest album Bloodsports, the band’s first in a decade, has been doing a stellar job since its release, once again earning them the title as ‘best new band in Britain, again’.  Their legendary awesomeness has been cemented in their recent winning of the Icon Award at the Q Awards.  Still sounding angsty, snide, cool and full of attitude in a much more grown up way, the live show promises to be glorious.  Just seriously don’t tell me about it.

Suede play Manchester Academy on Wednesday 30th October and Birmingham Academy on 31st

 Mutineers

According to my Twitter feed, these guys are loved and loving back their online community.  Their brand of indie combines some delectable twangy 80’s guitar riffs and classic sing-a-long sections perfect for having a hair flicky dance with your mates too.  Single ‘Tell Me Why’ is a perfect example, and angsty yet upbeat, love!  Don your waterproofs and show them some love in Glasgow this weekend.

Mutineers play Glasgow’s Pivo Pivo on Saturday 2nd November

Sonic Boom Six

Want to dance your face off and party like Stormageddon is gonna break in at any minute?  These guys are still on tour and still full of enthusiastic punk/ska/electro/all of the genres basically joy!  Check my previous review for reasons to be cheerful at them.

SBS play the Slade Room, Wolverhampton on 31st October Portsmouth Wedgerooms on 1st November and the Gloucester Guildhall on 2nd before finishing off at The Sugarmill in Stoke on the 3rd.

The Bedroom Hour

London’s Bedroom Hour pop up north to do a Saturday session at Manchester’s Night and Day Cafe this weekend.  Their brand of smokey melancholy indie is sure to reverb hauntingly around this wee venue, which has a candle-light atmosphere anyways.  Maybe not one for anyone on the post break-up lash mind, if you’re out for a chilled one and an excuse for a post-storm cuddle, get involved.

The Bedroom Hour play the Night & Day Cafe, Manchester on 2nd November

When not making cocktails for Manchester's finest, Le Titts is most likely to be found the other side of the bar in a cloud of smoke and wine musing loudly over her fantasy band line up, love of the album format and why nothing is better than The Stone Roses. And then spilling the wine...Loving the ride with GigSlutz.
