I Would Go Tonight… Gigslutz Gig Guide 11/03/2014

Hello you!  It’s been a while hasn’t it…I just needed some time, a little space…can we look past this and move on?  Yeeeeaaah we can!  Spring has sprung and I’m feeling perky, so this week we’re all about big melodies, stuff that you sing along to, that sounds good in a beer garden yeah!  So check ‘em out, let me know how it goes, and maybe I see you there yeah 😉

Now let’s never leave each other like that again…x

Cults

American boy-girl combo Cults are popping over to England’s green and pleasant hills for one night only – so we best relish it.  I adore singer Madeline Follin’s power prom queen voice, particularly on You Know What I Mean, a track that packs more sugary punch than who bag of sherbet.  Having had a listen to the album, it’s part high school dance, part San Fran hippy, part NYC cool – awesome americana!  Track Go Outside has been everywhere, and is a perfect accompaniment to the current heatwave.  One for the MGMT fans who thought it all got a bit too synthy (that’ll be me then…) – love this band!

Drink the kool-aid at London’s Village Underground on March 17th

Fall Out Boy

I find Fall Out Boy are a bit of a Marmite band – people either think they’re awesome or (rather misguidedly might I suggest) group them in a kind of emo-wrist-slitting-parent-hating band.  Well – I’m not having it!  Lyrically this band are full of clever innuendos and comic slights, musically no two albums sound the same and they are constantly evolving in a pretty exciting way.  They began as teenagers but perhaps they should now be the Fall Out Men…;) But for me the new stuff is a bit too elctro-modern, I’ll be hoping for a lot of back catalogue.  Any who, saw them a few years ago at the O2 London, they know how to get a stadium crowd going and I defy you not to dance and shout along, even the haters!

Dance Dance with FOB in Cardiff, Birmingham and Manchester this week

Bombay Bicycle Club

So apparently these guys are the coolest thing going right now, with current track Luna alllllll over the radio.  I must admit, that song has dug under my skin and is now firmly rooted in my ‘songs what I love’ psyche.  Having had a serious YouTube investigation of this band to see what I’ve missed, they make some cracking videos – I’m seriously into Beg right now, that video and that rhythm section!  Live…well bet that drummer is bloody awesome and I’d make the journey for that alone!  If you’re up for some juicy sunshine-electro pop with brilliant sing-a-long potential, you’re gonna have an awesome time.

Go get lovely with BBC all over the country this week

Royal Blood

It wouldn’t be a Titts gig guide without throwing in some dirty guitar boys, so hey Royal Blood!  Current track Little Monster is hot and heavy vocals with a sumptuous guitar riff, it’s potentially the sexiest rock n roll song I’ve heard in a while.  The Brighton based duo are currently being whisked away by BBC 6 Music to play at legend-in-the-making breeding ground South By South West.  Safe to say we can expect big things.  They kick off a UK tour in Glasgow when they get back, and I cannot wait to have some down n dirty dancey gig time with these guys!

Hopefully a distinct lack of inbreeding with Royal Blood at the 02 Academy Glasgow

When not making cocktails for Manchester's finest, Le Titts is most likely to be found the other side of the bar in a cloud of smoke and wine musing loudly over her fantasy band line up, love of the album format and why nothing is better than The Stone Roses. And then spilling the wine...Loving the ride with GigSlutz.
