International Teachers Of Pop share new single ‘The Ballad Of Remedy Nilsson’

Ahead of their eponymously titled debut album on February 8th 2019, International Teachers of Pop– the new project from Moonlandingz founders/producers Adrian Flanagan & Dean Honer along with singer Leonore Wheatley (The Soundcarriers/Ghost Box) – bring to you, astride a giant mirror-ball, their 3rd single, a head boppin’ – body poppin’ slice of northern pagan disco titled The Ballad Of Remedy Nilsson.

Continuing ITOP’S quest for writing songs about “nerdy things”, this arpeggiating blast of discotheque magic covers the rarely explored subject matter of disobedient cats, or as singer Leonore Wheatley puts it, it’s “a lament for the modern cat owner, destined to live a life of frustration and unrequited love. You invest all that time, energy and money into them, nurturing and building up what you think is a solid relationship, just for them to struggle out of your arms and rip you to shreds…little shits!”

The band made their own video for the track too preferring the ‘Arts & Crafts’ approach to the “sickeningly slick, preposterous CGI efforts that are only condemning the next generations imaginations in to that of a puss filled microwave!”

Says ITOP’s Adrian Flanagan – “We come from the age of Bagpuss & Chocky, early MTV and classic Top of the Pops , a time when television effects were hand made and animated, sets were all built by craftsmen, a door would shut and the walls would wobble, continuity was all over the place, but your imagination ran wild in its simplicity and artfulness. There’s not really much of that about these days. We are more Craftwork than Kraftwerk!”
