Introducing Interview: John Alcabean

Danish post-punk trio John Alcabean pride themselves on their explosive, riotous sounds. Reminiscent of the likes of Drenge or Royal Blood, their tracks are filled with thrashing riffs, impassioned vocals and dark undertones.

With a new EP out next month, John Alcabean are now ready to take the world by storm. So we caught up with them to find out more…

Welcome to Gigslutz, please introduce yourselves!
Victor Ryle Schack ( Lead vocals and guitar )
Julius Ryle Schack ( Backing vocals and bass )

What’s the story behind your latest single ‘Fire’?
One of those songs that me and julius wrote a home jammin probably in our pyjamas.
The whole process of writing this song we’re very organic and i really just came up with the lyrics in the moment.

If you had to compare yourselves to any other artists out there right now, who would they be and why?
Maybe DRENGE… three piece like us and they make noisey guitar pop too.

Your single ‘Fire’ is filled with catchy melodies. How do you normally go about the writing process as a band?
Always starts with me and a guitar, then I present the idea to Julius and we form the song together. After the music is done I write the melodies and lyrics.

What is the next step for John Alcabean?
Playing a lot of gigs and writing new music – keep on movin’!
