Manchester born guitarist Jeff Wootton will release his debut single ‘The Eternal’ on 6th November 2015 on Sympathy For Vinyl.
The release of ‘The Eternal’ comes on the back of a prolific creative period for Jeff Wootton, which has seen him collaborate with the likes of Damon Albarn, Gorillaz, Brian Eno and Massive Attack. After deciding to step out on his own earlier this year, he’s honed his live shows with support slots with the likes of Blur and Kasabian, and is now ready to preview his debut LP at a very special headline show at Red Gallery, London on 21st October 2015.
Whilst performing in Mali as part of the Africa Express, Jeff began recording ‘The Eternal’. He explains “It features an African instrument called Imzad, which is a rare single-string bowed instrument used by the Tuareg people in Africa. I recorded the Imzad when I was in Mali with Damon Albarn.”
The luscious arrangement and deft production on ‘The Eternal’ hints at what’s to come on his forthcoming debut solo album, ‘The Way The Light’, which will be released 26th February 2016. The sonically driven album uses the likes of Neil Young, Brian Eno, Jimi Hendrix, Flying Lotus, Jonny Greenwood and Jon Hopkins as reference points, and takes you on a journey whilst creating something fresh and ambitious.
