John Paul Jones’ Minibus Pimps To Release Debut Album

After being part of supergroup Them Crooked Vultures alongside Queens Of The Stone Age’s frontman Josh Homme and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl in 2009, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones is ready for another project: Minibus Pimps.

Taking the name from a Chinese experimental song by the group Beijin Sound Unit, Minibus Pimps are made of John Paul Jones and Norwegian ambient artist Helge Sten, who has previously released music with Supersilent under the name of Deathprod. The duo started playing together in 2011 and are going to release their debut album “Close To Ground” on March 3rd on the Norwegian label SusannaSonata.

The album features some improvised tracks and some tracks recorded at live shows as well as sounds created through Kyma, a computer-based sound design system.
