LISTEN: Mower – ‘Under The Iron Thumb’

With the cataclysmic echo of their early days behind them, Mower have returned to our ears after a twelve year hiatus. Their story stems from a loud, beating sound of the early noughties, having been spotted, snapped and signed to Blur guitarist Graham Coxon’s label Transcopic back in 2001. This signing brought with it a heavy hay day of support slots on the tours of esteemed rock bands, critical acclaim, sold out shows and an Album Of The Month declared by NME.

Now part of the irrevocably indie record label Reckless Yes, the band are back with new music and a fresh drive to pursue the work that got them known for their raucous shows and unashamedly wild ways.

New single, ‘Under The Thumb’ is every bit the high-octane, fast-paced song to belt the punk-pop three piece back into the limelight. With a brash, hedonistic twang of the guitar, this raw edged pop track cuts through the trio’s previous work and holds its own with the current artists of our age. Bringing Mower forward into 2017, the track is a sign of exciting things to come as the band are set to announce more music this year, giving them a welcome return to the music scene.
