LISTEN: Oh Wonder release ‘Oceansize’, the latest track from ‘Home Tapes’ project

Oh Wonder continue their acclaimed ‘Home Tapes’ project this week with ‘Oceansize’: their fourth song written, self-produced and released under lockdown.

‘Oceansize’ is an affecting addition to the furiously-creative duo’s new material – a direct reflection (say the band) “on lockdown, and our consequent yearning for freedom, space and nature.” ‘Home Tapes’ was introduced by the electronic torch song ‘Lonely Star’, and followed recently by ‘Keep On Dancing’ (written in response to Josephine having to cancel her birthday party) plus the more introspective ‘I Like It When You Love Me’. The band’s fan-sourced music videos to accompany ‘Home Tapes’ have received thousands of submissions from around the world, with Oh Wonder currently creating a visual for ‘I Like It When You Love Me’ to follow soon.

Despite extreme circumstances, Oh Wonder are no strangers to life under lockdown. Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht first started the band much in the manner of ‘Home Tapes’ – writing, producing and recording everything DIY, with aim of releasing a song a month morphing into their debut album, a romantic relationship, and a career that continues to astound the couple. Not to mention, of course, two top 10 records (including February’s ‘No One Else Can Wear Your Crown’), a million sales, and over a billion streams. Whilst the band were poised for a mammoth world tour all through 2020 – including a homecoming show at Brixton Academy – Oh Wonder’s ever self-sufficient streak has found a truly creative outlet in ‘Home Tapes’. Here are a band reaching back to their roots whilst still, in their own unabashed way, setting the agenda where others follow.

Oh Wonder’s extensive world tour is currently being rerouted for 2021, with further information to follow soon.

Stay tuned for further ‘Home Tapes’ releases.
