LISTEN: Shift K3Y goes in a new direction with ‘Still Love You’

Most people will know 22-year-old Londoner Shify K3y from his upbeat chart smash ‘Touch’, which hit the UK top 5 in 2014. The track was a dancefloor smash and was played at pretty much every club night and party across the country.

Since reaching those lofty heights, Shift K3y, aka Lewis Jankel, has toured alongside Diplo & Skrillex and provided remixes for a number of top artists. In terms of his own music, he is currently in the process of releasing his project Off The Record, for which he is sharing a new track every two weeks until the projects completion. Of the two tracks we’ve seen so far, ‘Crying In My Sleep’ followed the housey, dancey blueprint that we’ve come to associate with Shift K3y. But the R&B/funk filled ‘2 Doors’ showcased a different side to him and new track ‘Still Love You‘, which he co-wrote with Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy, has seen him venture even further down that path.

Talking about the track, Shift K3y said,

“It’s not everyday you get to write a song with not just an idol; but one of your all time favourite songwriters and singers…After I spent no more than 5 minutes working on the beat, which was just a bassline and drums, he shouted “STOP!!! I’ve got it!!!!” He went into the booth and sung the entire song within half an hour all double takes, harmonies etc. I’m still speechless over how I’ve managed to land such an amazing opportunity. I asked him if I could work on the production a little to match his unparalleled level of work flow. I was given the stems and a couple weeks later after I had finished the production asked if I could sing it for my project. I’m In disbelief that I was able to make such an incredible track with one of my favourite musicians and be able to use it for myself.”
