LISTEN: Weaves – ‘Help!’ (The Beatles Cover)

Toronto-based band Weaves are fast become known for their frantic surf-rock riffs, raw vocals and uptempo summery vibes. And now, following the success of their eponymous debut EP, the band have shared a brand new rendition of an all time classic.

I don’t think there’s many bands that can pull off covering The Beatles, but Weaves manage it without a doubt. Their cover of ‘Help’ is a disjointed sliced of ‘bent pop’, filled with stilted beats, glitchy electro melodies and the distinctive soulful vocals of Jasmyn Burke. Of deciding to record the track, Burke says:

“… Like most people we love the Beatles, and I felt like those lyrics were living inside of me at the time so I wanted to try and personalise it. It was a really fun experience and an interesting experiment.”

Take a listen to the wonky wonderfulness of this completely obscure and refreshingly unique take on the infamous Beatles classic:
