LIVE: The Amazons @ Liverpool Sound City, 28.05.17

“If you’ve lost your faith in love and music, oh the end won’t be long”, said The Libertines.  If your pallet needs some regeneration and your passion for live sound reignited, then look no further than Reading four-piece The Amazons to take you to another planet.

It has been three years since The Amazons formed and it has been three days since the band released their self-titled debut album into the world. Performing to a full-capacity Baltic Stage tent on the final day of Liverpool Sound City 2017, The Amazons played the ultimate record launch party to hundreds of hungry fans.

“This one’s called ‘Black Magic’” cheekily grins the bands’ Matt Thomas, sending adoring bodies into a fevered frenzy.  Hands above heads, pints of Peroni flying and the culprits for this mass riot are up on stage in the thick of it.  People have come to Sound City just to see this group of lads – you can hear it in the atmosphere and feel it in the radiating euphoria.

Tracks such as ‘Little Something’, ‘Ultraviolet’ and closing number ‘Junk Food Forever’ were all delivered with the same oozing passion.  The latter allowed the crowd to feast their eyes and ears on the sheer adrenaline being emitted by The Amazons.  If there was anything to make you fall head-over-heels in love with this band, it was their live set at Liverpool Sound City.  Where is next, boys?
