LIVE: Broken Witt Rebels – Old Blue Last, Shoreditch 21.10.16

Friday night saw the launch of Jack Daniel’s latest ‘Jack Rocks’ initiative, ‘Honey Sessions’- a series of acoustic nights hosted by its Jack Daniels Honey drink, in a bid to continue their support for up-and-coming new music and to provide the perfect place to wind-down on a Friday evening.

Taking place in popular Shoreditch venue The Old Blue Last, the night begins early, with the band of the evening, Birmingham indie-blues band and ‘Jack Rocks’ favourites, Broken Witt Rebels starting at 6:45pm.

The band performed a stripped-back set, complete with only an acoustic guitar, a bass, the pristine vocals of front-man Danny, and a wooden block in place of a drum. The absence of their usual bravado of heavy guitars and drum beats did little to stifle their charismatic stage presence and raw, gritty – yet polished set; something which indie bands often struggle to achieve.

Belting out their usual set list featuring crowd favourites ‘Low’ ‘Come on Over’ and latest single ‘Georgia Pine’, their performance engaged and captivated and definitely set the bar high for any future acts who grace the Honey Sessions stage.
