Last week saw shoe brand Converse play host to a series of one off and inclusive music events for their Rubber Track Weekend. With a collection of free music shows across the capital, a Boat Party on the Thames, live broadcasts, artist Q&A’s and workshops, there was something for everyone across the 3 days. Bringing the weekend to its climax on Saturday night was headliners, and all round brilliant American rap duo, Run The Jewels. An inarguable highlight to the event Run The Jewels took to the stage at Londons own 100 Club. With their latest output being the eccentrically titled ‘Meow The Jewels’, which yes, includes the distinct and bizarre samples of cats meows, and a decent helping from some of hip-hops finest producers, Run The Jewels left the crowd purring with their set. Playing a section of their tracks from both previous studio albums,EI-P and Killer Mike even sampled an impromptu acapella rendition of the Jimi Hendrix classic ‘Hey Joe’.
