LIVE: Pirate Studios Liverpool Launch ft Dave McCabe & Hello Operator

Pirate Studios revolutionary new rehearsal spaces launched in Bristol last year and has quickly spread to a further 8 cities, with many more planned across the UK later this year. We were invited down to the Liverpool launch party down on Regent Road (by the Titanic Hotel) which featured Mersey legends Dave Mccabe of The Zutons and Ian Skelly of The Coral, as well as rising stars Hello Operator.

Before the bands started, we were shown around the rehearsal studios and I must say, I was impressed. Brand new rooms, 24/7 access, 24/7 help-line and lockers that are a very reasonable £10 a month. Add to that the Open Live facility (record and mix demos as you play!) Pirate Studios is head and shoulders the best rehearsal space I have ever visited.

Having been given the tour, it was off to the makeshift bar, neck a Jack Daniel’s or three, and get warmed up for the bands.

Hello Operator kicked off proceedings with a bluesy rock n roll set of insane quality. Frontman Max dalton has one of the best voices in Rock N Roll. If you’ve not checked them out yet, do so. Surprisingly, considering the band and amps were mere metres from my face, it sounded clean and clear.

Next up the Mersey legends of Dave Mccabe and Ian Skelly, who brought magic, music and laughter to the room. Finishing the short but sweet set with ‘Valerie’, this was a very special night at what’s set to become a very important place in providing facilities and support to Liverpool’s next generation of bands.
