The Maccabees to play intimate London show in support of MS Society

The Maccabees have announced another show in the lead up to their farewell tour, which will raise funds for the MS Society.

The show will take place at Omeara in London Bridge on June 16. It’s been organised by guitarists and brothers Felix and Hugo White, whose mother had multiple sclerosis and passed away when they were teenagers.

Today (May 31) is World MS Day. Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects more than 100,000 people in the UK and can cause problems with how we walk, move, see think and feel.

The brothers said: “Putting on a show for the MS society is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. As some will know, it’s a cause very close to home as our mother had MS and we have been trying to help the charity where we can over quite a few years. Having got to know the charity too, we know how much amazing work is being done by the people there.

This is the first chance we’ve had to actually put together a whole show solely in aid of the MS Society. It’s going to be a special night. We’re so glad we have been able to make it happen.

In addition to a headline set from The Maccabees, it’ll also feature sets from Mystery Jets and Imperial Daze. It’ll be followed by a YALA! club night afterpaety with DJ sets from Foals and surprise guests.

As well as the live sets, there will be an exclusive exhibition of photographs of The Maccabees over the years taken by the band’s drummer Sam Doyle. These prints will be available to purchase on the night.

The show will take place before their sold-out UK farewell tour at Manchester’s O2 Apollo and London’s Alexandra Palace this summer.

Tickets for the live show go on sale on Monday (June 5), and will cost £30. Tickets for the YALA! afterparty will go on sale on Tuesday (June 6). Only those on the YALA! Records mailing list will be able to purchase tickets. Sign up here.

All profits made from ticket and photograph print sales will be donated to the MS Society.
