Manic Street Preachers are set to release their 12th LP on July 7 2014, just 10 months after 2013’s acoustic ‘Rewind The Film’.
The album is titled ‘Futurology’ and features several special guests, including Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside, who appears on ‘Between the Clock And The Bed’ and German actress Nina Hoss who appears on ‘Europa Geht Durch Mich’, which translates quite appropriately to ‘Europe Goes Through Me’, as ‘Futurology’ was recorded partly in Berlin as well as in Cardiff.
A video for the record’s first single, ‘Walk Me To The Bridge’, has also been released. Check it out below. With its incessant bassline and anthemic chorus, it could soon be a crowd favourite in the setlist of the Manics’ highly praised live shows. The video seems to be in the style of cult Danish crime-drama The Killing but with little or no plot, however it definitely does serve to increase anticipation for the forthcoming record with the protagonist’s final discovery of a toolbox labelled ‘Futurologie’, a last nod to the continent.
