Modern Faces – ‘Matter Of Time’

Modern Faces follow up their sell out Alhambra gig from earlier in the year by re-igniting the smoking coals with their on-fire track 'Matter Of Time'!

Since catching unsigned band Modern Faces live earlier in the year at their epic Alhambra gig in Dunfermline, I have been keeping an eager eye on these 5 lads from Fife. Current release ‘Matter of Time’ continues in the vein of previous big gun ‘Lufthansa’ with an infectious and pulsating vibe to the track from the outset. However, as the keys and drums kick-in, I sense a slightly darker hypnotic sound lifted by the brass and funky bass-line and – when charismatic singer Monty sings “the more I push the more you pull” – the tension and atmosphere become real as two people appear to become embroiled in a moment of ‘are we gonna get it on or not’, similar to that on dance floors across the country. Also featuring a tasty guitar solo, the scene is confirmed as Monty confidently snarls “all I know… it’s a matter of time”!

Accompanied by a well-shot video, limited 7” vinyl copies of ‘Matter Of Time/Lufhansa’ are available now via the Modern Faces Bandcamp page. With both XFM and Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch picking up on the song, you’d better be quick as I believe it is just a matter of time before these lads hit the big time.
