NEW MUSIC: Sub Cultures debut eponymously-titled EP

South Wales-based indie/alt act Sub Cultures are pleased to announce their debut eponymously-titled EP will be released on 26th March 2021 (via Prank Monkey Records).

Produced by Jack Boston (The Cure/Beth Orton) at the legendary Rockfield Studios (Oasis/The Stone Roses/Manic Street Preachers) in Monmouthshire, the release of the ‘Sub Cultures EP’ follows the previous success of singles ‘Far Behind’ and ‘Alone’ and further showcases the young group’s formidable songwriting prowess.

High energy opener ‘Comedown’ kicks-off the new EP, with killer second track ‘Enjoy Yourself’ propelling the listener even deeper before things slow down a little as the band explore their more subtle math-rock tendencies on ‘Friends’. The four-track EP wraps up with emotional closer ‘Ride With You’ and its lyrics of love, loss and everything in between.

On the new material, vocalist Kane Radnor says, “This EP feels more mature compared to our first few singles – we’ve spent the last year writing and playing together, but also growing as people alongside each other. We’ve grown more confident allowing us to be more creative and experimental without forgetting about who we are musically. Recording at Rockfield was a hell of an experience – it was surreal to play in a studio that’s accommodated some of the greatest musicians, and Jack really encouraged us to experiment and play around with the record. I think we’re all really proud of what we ended up creating.”

Talking about the stunning video for EP track ‘Enjoy Yourself’, Sub Cultures guitarist Lewis Perks (guitar) says, “We loved working with director Laurie Collins. He knew exactly what we were looking for. The video really captures the drive of the song – it’s got a real psychedelic vibe and the intensity of the animations at the end really make it feel like it’s jumping right out of the screen.”

Sub Cultures are a young indie/alternative four-piece hailing from the border of South Wales and Gloucestershire.

The band was formed in Gloucestershire in 2019 by close school-friends Kane Radnor (vocals/rhythm guitar) and Lewis Perks (lead guitar), who swiftly recruited Charlie Foster (bass) and Eric Karvik (drums) to complete the line-up.

They have quickly developed their own hard, driving, pulsating sound along with a reputation for intense live shows. Key inspirations and influences include The Cure and Joy Division, alongside more contemporary acts such as Shame, Fontaines D.C., Title Fight and JAWS.
