New Track: Birth Of Joy – ‘You Got Me Howling’

Dutch psychedelic rockers Birth Of Joy nod towards the likes of MC5 and are well known for their energetic sets and chaotic tracks. Ahead of the release of their new album, Get Well, the band have shared their latest single, ‘You Got Me Howling’.

The track begins with a tried and tested beat on the drums, but that’s not to say it doesn’t work a treat – the beat hits hard before welcoming the vocals of front-man Kevin Stunnenberg. Just after a few seconds, the track is already a fast-paced mean machine of noise, which is then obliterated into pure chaos when the howls of Stunnenberg bring a close to the first verse in frantic fashion.

Riffs from the guitar ensure the track runs along in a smooth fashion, gripping you with every hook. The howls echo again, and the infectious chorus begins – coursing through your brain and pressing all the right buttons – before the introduction of a behemoth of a solo, taking the song to maximum energy. ‘You Got Me Howling’ ends abruptly, leaving you hungry for a taste of more Birth Of Joy.

Get Well, the new album from Birth Of Joy, is out 26 February. Catch them live at London’s Borderline on March 16th.
