New Track: FANS – ‘Born Into’

‘Born Into’ is the latest product of Yorkshire based trio FANS, and is the second track to be released from their self-titled EP, set to be released later this year.

The track begins with the refreshing sounds of guitar strumming, before a fuzz-laden riff is introduced, alongside the pounding of the drums and bass. It becomes apparent before the thirty second mark that this track is fuelled with pace.

When the vocals are introduced, the track transforms completely, with the deep, distorted vocals of Dan Louch acting as the perfect complement to the opening.

Then along comes the chorus – a strangely uplifting melody, accompanied by lyrics that are frighteningly relevant and relatable. ‘Born Into’ acts as a social commentary and captures the feelings of a large part of the population in a perfect way.

The video for ‘Born Into’ is a completely DIY offering; it’s solely filmed by the band and friends in their basement, with the band saying the influence for the video comes from last year’s hit-film, Birdman. You can take a look for yourself below:

‘Born Into’ appears to hold some similarities to West coast American bands such as Shark? and Wavves – a sound which is cherished throughout the whole of the U.K due to the lack of British production of it. And, with their fresh sound, FANS represent a kind of holy grail within the current plethora of music being made today; it’s something that’s refreshingly unique in a fog of tracks in the charts and playlists that are so similar it’s hard to distinguish who it is behind them.
