Fehm: a four-piece from Leeds who create a dark and destructive post punk wall of sound, glossed over with essences of atmospheric bliss.
The track ‘Hand To Mouth’ is taken from the band’s debut EP Animal Skin, released on April 11th 2015. It is a track that reminisces artists such as Danzig and The Dead Kennedys with a twist of The Wedding Present. This combination gives a force that sonically annihilates you throughout the entirety of the song.
This force is conveyed with an addictive crunchy bass line, pushed along by a constant thunderous attack from the drums. The addition of heavily distorted guitars and an ethereal synthesiser produces a dense structure that a track like this needs. Topping it off is the rockabilly-produced wild vocal delivery, which shatters through ‘Hand To Mouth’ like a verbal earthquake.
Passion and energy are what fully gives this track its punch and fury, exceeding many bands of a similar ilk, presenting the listener with an instantaneous addiction. If ‘Hand To Mouth’ is a representation of what Fehm can do, then the EP is set to be something special, raucous and tempestuous with a fresh take on a past genre.
