New Track: Flower Fellow – ‘Madman’

Enchanting, folky and other-worldly, Flower Fellow‘s latest single ‘Madman’ feels like glimpse into the land of a fairy tale. At just seventeen years of age, the vocals of Colette Olive, ooze ethereally over waves of strumming acoustic guitar and atmospheric strings, creating a swirling, eerie, waltzing blend of sounds.

Olive’s vocals have the the power of Florence Welch, mixed with the languid charm of Laura Marling, complementing her subtly emotive music perfectly. Her hippy, bohemian influences also make her resemblance to these two female artists all the more striking, especially in the dreamily commanding refrain of “dance, my darling”, which could quite happily sit on a Florence and the Machine record.

Flower Fellow’s lyrics read like an invitation to explore the alternative world of her songs, in which the truth is “whiter than stars”, and “men are merely players” on a stage. If you’re looking for pure, unadulterated escapism, look no further than the wistful, haunting tunes of Flower Fellow.

‘Madman’ is out 4 September via Circus City Records.
