New Track: Joanna Gruesome – ‘Pretty Fucking Sick (Of It All)’

Cardiff-based noise-rock group Joanna Gruesome are back with their first release since the departure of vocalist Alanna McArdle, the superbly named ‘Pretty Fucking Sick (Of It All)’. With the help of two new additions – Kate Stonestreet (Pennycress) and Roxy Brennan (Two White Cranes, Grubs) – the band retain their standout raucous sound.

They’ve shared the following statement about the new song, which was recorded by producer Rory Atwell on a boat in London: “It is influenced by our recent U.S tour, during which the CIA took a special interest in the group’s movements.” Another reading suggests the song is about attempting to “destroy binary conceptions of gender through ritual hexing” – so it’s best to listen and decide for yourself!

The single features original artwork from Bart De Baets, and the track also has a cool accompanying video, shot in monochrome and directed by Roxanne Clifford. Watch below…
