Leigh-On-Sea songwriter Owen Williams released his single ‘The Man Who Ate A Hurricane’ in July, and it’s created quite the storm on the Essex music scene. Owen has self-released two records so far; Routine Monsters (2009) and Happy/Sad (2015), but this single will be taken from his upcoming first full-length album; Standing Still Will Kill You.

Keen to avoid being pigeon-holed as a folk artist, Owen’s new album sees his love for gospel, soul and roots music come in to focus; and ‘The Man Who Ate A Hurricane’ is a smooth example of this. Standing Still Will Kill You is set to be released this October, and you can listen to its debut single – recorded live at The Broom Cupboard studio in Southend – below.
