New Track: TONES – ‘Here On After’

Hailing from the outskirts of London, TONES have been making a huge amount of noise since their birth in 2011, turning heads every step of the way. They have announced the release of their latest single, ‘Here On After’, and hope to keep the momentum building.

‘Here On After’ begins with a groovy bassline that inflicts itself on your eardrums before you can resist and, without warning, erupts into something that cannot be summarised on any scale. The beginning, to me, pays solace to many great experimental sounds out there, specifically the likes of Rage Against The Machine. The verses drop the track back into control, before throwing it into the abyss another time over.

The track is bursting at the seams with an insane amount of influences; with heavy-hitting riffs and drums that could be found by bands typically on the Download Festival bill, it also hints at many different genres, allowing TONES to fit nicely into numerous genre specifications. The chorus, especially its vocals, picks up where other upcoming bands have done so, with a sound that tips towards the likes of Pretty Vicious.

Although one wouldn’t necessarily assume that all of these different sounds would mix-match together as well as they do, they do just that. ‘Here On After’ is a musical jigsaw of pure chaos, one which is extremely satisfying once it is all pieced together.
