NEWS: Bad Sidekick release new single, ‘Lemon Eyes’

London-based punk outfit, Bad Sidekick, have released their latest single, ‘Lemon Eyes’, the second release from their upcoming debut album, ‘Daily Lottery’.

Since unleashing eponymous debut EP in 2018, the band went on an extended hiatus, with, ‘Lemon Eyes’ excellently showcasing their growth and maturity as musicians.

Off the bat, the track opens with a dark, psychedelic edge with the guitar notes fizz their way out of your speakers. Not a sea of noise, rather an unstoppable trickle. Soon after, the vocals, delivered by Cooper Rose come into the mix, juxtaposing the lo-fi guitar licks with her glossy, crystal clear vocal performance.

The chorus of the track attempts to take the song to a more dream pop-sphere but the roar of the drums high in the mix still makes sure it still has a foot in a punkier space, refusing the shape off those dark edges.

‘Lemon Eyes’ shows that it’s okay for a band to take a break when they come back better than ever. With a more refined, fresher sound, ‘Lemon Eyes’ is a track that will take great pleasure in replaying in your head for days on end.
