What not to miss at Liverpool Sound City

As Sound City gears up for its ninth year, we’ve picked out nine things that you definitely don’t want to miss at this year’s festival.

  1. In Conversation Stage

Find out more about your favourite musicians, actors and industry figures at the Radio X In Conversation Stage. The line up includes actor Paddy Considine, Irish songstress Roisin Murphy, Liverpool’s own Circa Waves and many more.

2. Brazilica

The UK’s only Brazilian carnival will pop up at Sound City on Saturday and get the party started Samba style. Head down to The Dome for 5:30pm and begin your night in style!

3. Ryoichi Kurokawa Exhibition

Across the weekend, there will be an exhibition by acclaimed Japanese artist Ryoichi Kurokawa on the site’s Atlantic Stage. The exhibition is presented by FACT and Sedition and coincides with his solo show – unfold – at FACT.

4. Bowie and Prince Tribute

This year, Sound City has worked collaboratively with legendary artist Dave Lynch and FACT to create an immersive art installation which pays tribute to the late David Bowie and Prince.

5. Tall Ship

An iconic tall ship will once again be sailed right into the heart of the festival site, with festivalgoers able to get aboard and watch bands performing on the ship across the weekend.

6. Freeze Stage

Legendary Liverpool promoters Freeze will host the Baltic Warehouse Stage at this year’s festival with huge acts Leftfield (Live), Hot Chip (DJ Set) and Floating Points (Live) all appearing on the bill.

7. Viola Beach

Following the tragic Viola Beach news earlier in the year, Sound City will pay tribute to the Warrington band, who were set to play the festival.

8. Wider arts and spectacles

Sound City wouldn’t be the same without its immersive theatrical walkabout performances. This year, entertainment is provided by Tron Dancers, Disco Heads, fairies, break dancers and more!

9. Headliners

With Catfish & The Bottlemen making a triumphant return having first played the festival as an unsigned act, The Coral performing a highly anticipated homecoming show and Pete Doherty taking the helm of the North Stage on Sunday night – the headline acts are definitely not to be missed.

Sound City takes place on 28 & 29 May 2016 at the Liverpool Waters, Bramley-Moore Dock, an historic waterfront location and one of the most unique festival sites in the world.
